Meet Elizabeth
Elizabeth Guinea is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) who works with individuals to navigate the complexities of transition, identity, and the search for “home” within themselves. With a career rooted in the belief that we are shaped -but not defined- by our environments, she brings a deeply empathetic and global perspective to the therapeutic process.
For over 15 years, Elizabeth’s life was defined by a movement. As a former Navy wife, she navigated the unique challenges of the military lifestyle, building a life and a practice across the globe -from the bustling streets of Seoul and Mexico City to the coastal vibrance of Veracruz, Miami and Key West, and the historic landscapes of Germany, Romania and the United Kingdom.
This “life in motion” gifted her with the ability to quickly see patterns and the rare ability to understand different points of view without judgement. Whether she was in a NATO base with freezing conditions or warm tropical beaches, she saw a universal truth: no matter where we are on the map, we all seek connection, stability, and a sense of purpose. Today, she uses that experience to work with her clients to find their own solid ground, blending clinical expertise with the wisdom gained from a lifetime of adaptation and cultural immersion.

ABOUT CLINICAL COUNSELING
I use evidence-based, structured approaches tailored to each client’s needs, drawing from well-established clinical models that are supported by research and widely used in modern psychotherapy.
For thoughts, emotions, and behavior patterns, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy help identify unhelpful thinking cycles, strengthen coping strategies, and build positive practical steps towards meaningful change by focusing on strengths and present solutions.
For trauma work, the Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories (RTM) is an innovative protocol used to help reduce the emotional intensity of distressing memories in a structured, non-traumatic, non-invasive way. It is designed to be a brief intervention -usually 5 sessions-.
For family systems, an intervention by the University of Miami that improves communication, reduces conflict, and strengthens relational structures through targeted, goal-oriented work.
For couples, the Gottman Method provides a research-backed framework for improving relationship stability, enhancing communication, and rebuilding trust by focusing on friendship, conflict management, and shared meaning.
Across all modalities, treatment is collaborative, goal-driven, and adapted to each person’s unique situation to support lasting, measurable progress.
