Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect in my first session?
Your first session is a space to get to know you—at your pace. As part of individual therapy for adults, we’ll talk about what brings you in, what you’d like to work on, and any questions you may have. You don’t need to prepare anything or have the “right words.” Just showing up is enough. For couples? Same process in the first session. Then, I’ll meet individually with each partner, send a 60-90 minute questionnaire and then we’ll begin the work of creating common goals.
What if I don’t know what to talk about?
That’s completely okay. Many people start mental health counseling unsure of where to begin. I’ll guide the conversation in a way that feels natural and supportive, helping you explore what feels most important without pressure.
Do I need to have a serious problem to start therapy?
Not at all. Therapy isn’t only for crisis or severe situations. Many people seek therapy for stress, anxiety, and personal growth. Others come to better understand themselves, improve relationships, manage stress, or break patterns that no longer serve them. Wheter you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply want clarity, therapy can help.
How do I know if you’re the right therapist for me?
The connection between therapist and client matters. If you are looking for a therapist in Florida or online therapy in Florida, a consultation can help you get a sense of whether you feel comfortable, understood, and supported. If it doesn’t feel like the right fit, you’re always free to explore other options.
Will I be judged?
No. Therapy is a nonjudgmental space where you can speak openly and honestly. My role is to understand your experience, not to criticize or shame.
Is what I share confidential?
Your privacy is taken seriously. Confidentiality is a core part of professional counselig services, with a few legal exceptions (such as risk of harm to yourself or others to name a few), which we will review together so you feel fully informed.
How long does therapy take?
The length of mental health therapy varies for each person. Some clients come for a short period to work through a specific issue, while others choose ongoing support for deeper growth. We’ll regularly check in on your goals and progress.
How often will we meet?
Most clients start with weekly sessions to build momentum and consistency when starting therapy for anxiety or stress. Over time, we can adjust the frequency based on your needs and goals.
What kind of therapy do you use?
I provide individual therapy and counseling services tailored to your needs by drawing from evidence-based methods while focusing on creating a space where you feel understood, supported, and able to make meaningful changes.
Will therapy make me feel worse before I feel better?
At times, exploring difficult emotions can feel uncomfortable. This is a natural part of the process, and you won’t go through it alone. We move at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you.
What if I’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t help?
That experience matters. Not all therapy—or therapists—are the same. We can talk about what didn’t work previously and approach things differently to better support your needs.
Do I have to talk about my past?
Only if and when it feels relevant to you. Some people find it helpful to explore past experiences, while others focus more on the present. We’ll follow what feels most useful for your growth.
Can therapy help with relationship challenges?
Yes. Relationship counseling can help you better understand patterns, improve communication, and make more intentional choices in your relationships—whether you attend individually or as a couple.
What if I have trouble expressing my feelings?
You’re not alone. Part of therapy is helping you put words to your experience in a way that feels natural. There’s no expectation to “do it perfectly.”
How will I know therapy is working?
You may begin to notice shifts such as greater clarity, improved emotional regulation, healthier boundaries, or feeling more aligned with yourself. Progress can be gradual, and we’ll check in along the way.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. I offer secure virtual therapy session in Florida via a secure video platform, allowing you to connect from the comfort and privacy of your own space.
What are your fees and policies?
Fees, payment options, and cancellation policies for private practice therapy services will be reviewed during your consultation so you have a clear understanding before beginning. I work with self-pay clients and insured clients.
